Teachers actively discussed on school health and wellness under the Mentorship of Principal Ma’am @ Chennai. Teachers addressed the topics, that were distinct.
  • Session 1: Nutrition, Health and Sanitation- Ms.Gracy & Ms.Malathy
  • – Nutritional needs of children

    – Personal hygiene

    – Healthy eating and food hygiene

    – Sanitation and health

    – Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

    – Causes of Anaemia, prevention and management

    – National schemes on Nutrition and Sanitation The topics discussed in detail, clear description and explanation were given in the session. What are the essential factors of living? how to have a balanced diet, all healthy measures for disease free lifestyle, personal hygiene, Government steps and policies for clean India, how to make a change in the society so all the topics are circumstantial and it helps us to learn many unknown facts and information.

  • Session 2 : Prevention and Management of Substance Misuse Ms.Muthulakshmi, Ms.Suriya, Ms.Padmalatha
  • – Types of substance

    – Signs and symptoms of substance misuse

    – why are children vulnerable to substance misuse?

    – Dealing with negative peer pressure

    – Clarifying myths and Misconception about Substance Misuse

    – Accessing support for Prevention and Treatment: Safety nets

    – Promoting tobacco free schools

    – Types of substance and their effects

    – Consequences of substance misuse

    – Treatment of substance misuse

    – Role of parents, teacher and citizen in Prevention of drug abuse The discussion was well related with the movie and it was so easy to understand. The identification of drugs and products, where it is easily accessed, in what ways it is circulated among students, causative agents, prevention, role of teachers to correct the students in the right way. It’s an eye- opening for all of us and we acquire a lot of undisclosed information from society.

  • Session 3: Reproductive Health and HIV Prevention Ms.Lopa, Ms.Rashmita and Ms.Jayambika
  • – Personal hygiene and RTI’s

    – Talking about HIV

    – Vulnerability of women and adolescents to HIV

    – Leading life positively

    – Responsible sexual behaviour The difference between HIV and AIDS, spreading, causes, prevention, precautions to be taken, how to have healthy lifestyle, personal development, all are beautifully explained and made us to be aware of all the regular activities that we undergo on our daily basis.

  • Session 4: Promotion of healthy lifestyle Ms.Joy and Ms.Pushpakala
  • – Healthy Life choice within our Choices

    – Jump forward and race with pace

    – Choose well: Do well

    – Risk factors for non-communicable diseases

    – My habits and My health

    – Interventions in NCD Focusing on Adolescent children Promoting healthy behaviour among children and taking steps to protect young people from health risk and prevention of health problems in adulthood is well explained and it provides a better learning platform.
